The 16th April 2010 will see The Name Of Alan Ball back on Merseyside at The Echo Arena

Alan Ball Soccer Ltd and Alan Ball's family have agreed for Alan Balls name to be used for the Corporate Cup matches as part of European Former Players Association (EFPA)EFPA Congress which  comes to Liverpool – 15/16th April 2010 Friday 16th April – Afternoon. Noon – 4.30pm

This is a sponsorship event with 16 Corporate teams playing a 4 group league competition. Winners of each group going through to Semi-Finals, winners of the final will play a team of Celebrity All Stars as part of the evening’s main event. Friday 16th April – Evening  The inaugural EFPA Champions Cup takes place at the ECHO Arena and will be a four team 6-a-side involving England, Scotland, Ally McCoist Ireland/Wales and Europe, Terry Venables  (England),  Arrigo Sacchi (Europe) and Ian Rush (Wales & Ireland)  have confirmed their presence as managers.  Teams of former internationals will contest a 4-team round robin completion and a two team final. Players of the quality of Patrick Kluivert, Paulo Rossi, and Emilio Butregrano will play. 

The event is Supported by the Everton Former Players Foundation (EFPF), Alan Ball Soccer Ltd, The Everton Collection Charitable Trust (ECCT) and launching the newly formed British Alliance of Former Players Associations (BAFPA), managed by Paver Smith. EFPF who have been a leading player in this field and will be 10 years old next year, having played a strong part in supporting EFPA in the past, hence why it is coming from its traditional venue of Barcelona. The support for former players is being given an increasing level of focus and the success of EFPA and the recent establishment of BAFPA, and the support of UEFA and the PFA will help make this Congress of wide international interest. Impact, opportunity & profile The overall Congress will garner significant national and international publicity for the issue of former players, and those involved in supporting this cause and related issues, and will highlight Liverpool as a great location to support such an event.

A spectacular Gala Dinner will be held on the floor of the ECHO arena. Sir Geoff Hurst will be guest speaker, and other high profile sports commentators and speakers TBA. A highlight of the evening will be a unique showing of the key goals in the careers of those former players present, together with a personal commentary by them, and the opportunity to bid for a personally autographed shirt of theirs.
