A few weeks after Alan Ball Died we were asked if we would allow Alan Ball’s name to be used for a match between two squads of former international players, in the shape of "England vs The World", this was played at MK Stadia in Milton Keynes on 29 July, with proceeds going towards The Bobby Moore Fund for Cancer Research UK and the Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance Service.

Jim Buckey decided to arrange a memorial dinner 12 months after Alan died. Jim rang a few of his friends and invited them along with their partners for an Evening with George McCrae (Mr "Rock Your Baby"). Guests included Kenny and Marina Dalglish, Dave Watson, Alan Kennedy, Joe Parkinson, Gary Gillespie, Graham Stuart, Ian Callaghan, Neville Southall, Lesley Gibson Jon Jessop and Soul Survivors entertained everyone
